Owner of the 14th fastest time on the third day of testing in Sepang, Jack Miller gave a clearly positive assessment of his work over the three days in Malaysia. Nevertheless, despite achieving his best lap time on the track, he understands that it is necessary to find ‘the second’ that is missing to be on equal footing with the fastest riders.
The KTM rider had his best lap in 1:57.851s, and spoke about the final day as follows: ‘It was a reasonable day, the bike is working very well and I am very happy with the improvements made during the winter. The fastest lap I have ever done in 1:57.8s, still 1s behind the other guys and we have to find something more. I feel much more confident going into the race this year already, more than last year, and I think we have been able to find more of the things we needed to understand how to take the bike package forward. Another very positive day for us’.
For the Australian, it is now important to “gain” more time, and he has a better idea of which direction to follow: ‘Now it’s time to rest, reflect and understand where we can find another second. We know more or less [what we will find in Qatar] or a version of it. We tested countless versions of the bike and I believe that, among us, we have a clear understanding of the direction to follow in terms of electronics, where there has been a great improvement. There are small things we can fine-tune, obviously being a new system. Everything is working fine’.
Brad Binder, among the riders in control of the KTM RC16, was the fastest.
