The second day of MotoGP testing in Sepang is over and Enea Bastianini was the fastest. After Jorge Martín broke the official circuit record, last year’s Malaysian GP winner did even better in the final minutes. Miguel Oliveira finished in 19th place.
It was on his penultimate lap that Bastianini (Ducati) set the fastest time of the day: 1m57.134s. The Italian was 0.139s faster than Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati), who had led since the early stages. Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM) finished third, 0.193s behind, with the top five completed by Aleix Espargaró (Aprilia) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).
Rookie Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GasGas Tech3/KTM) once again performed well, setting the eighth fastest time. Joan Mir was the best Honda rider in tenth place, just ahead of Fabio Quartararo who was the strongest of the Yamaha riders. Marc Márquez (Gresini/Ducati) tried to make up for lost time yesterday with several technical issues and finished in 14th place, 0.984s off the pace.
As for Oliveira, the Trackhouse Racing rider was one of the most active on track. Throughout the day, he completed 56 laps – only surpassed by four rivals in this regard – allowing him to continue to learn and work on the Aprilia RS-GP. Oliveira’s best time was 1m58.549s, finishing in 19th place, 1.415s behind Bastianini.
