Pedro Acosta has completed another stage in his preparation for his MotoGP debut at this week’s Sepang tests. The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rookie is pleased with the progress he feels he has made, after demonstrating consistency and speed on the Malaysian track.
About his physical condition after the tests, the Spaniard said he had no problems: ‘Perfect. The physical aspect is good because I have no neck pain. It is true that after being here for ten days, riding in six of them on the same track, in the same conditions, everything the same, it ends up being very boring, but the physical aspect is good.’
With only two days of testing left, Acosta admitted that he is still far from his best possible level: ‘There is still a long way to go. Right now I am 0.6s behind. In the end, we see that they know how to be fast. I don’t know if [Marc] Márquez had difficulties on Wednesday or if he was just calm, but he was in front on Thursday and doing very good lap times. These riders know how to do it and they are not stupid. It’s not a surprise, but I am very happy. We are riding faster than the old lap record, they were also fast, but on the other hand, I am happy because I still have a long way to go.’
