It is a rejuvenated Jack Miller who will face this upcoming MotoGP season. Better physically than ever, due to a change in his training method, the KTM rider also expressed great satisfaction with the work done in the tests in Sepang.
And it was precisely about his performance in the tests in Sepang that Miller spoke: ‘If someone told me I would ride in 1:57 without mentioning anyone else’s times, I would probably be super happy right after the test. I am naturally happy. There is a lot of work to be done, many laps were done with variations of the bike in terms of aerodynamics, they saw some differences. It was a good test, a positive test for me, I felt good on the bike’.
#43 believes that there have been clear improvements in several areas, with the electronics deserving special mention: ‘We have been working hard on electronics and there has been a great improvement, and I believe that all the bikes started the work very quickly, which is a great boost for the upcoming season, going to the tracks and knowing where to start working is a big bonus for us on race weekends, especially in MotoGP as things are currently’.
The rider, who received some comments from people connected to MotoGP and how he seems to be in better physical shape this year, recalled: ‘I have been training on my own for the past 12 years and decided to change that a bit last year with the help of the guys in the Red Bull garage, and right after Valencia I went to Austria to do a test, and since that day I started working with a trainer and also with someone here in Australia, using the gym, which is something that never, me and the gym never understood each other before, and we are trying to change things a bit without leaving anything undone’.
And he concluded: ‘I have been busy in the winter, or in our case summer, waking up very early […] and between that and the gym I have been feeling thinner than ever and very motivated with these young boys who are coming up and pushing us’.
