This year, the Superbike World Championship will have major changes in the Portimão round, scheduled for August 9th to 11th. Contrary to usual, the races of the main category will take place in the late afternoon (local time).
For that reason, the main races will be disputed at sunset. In addition, the start of the program each day will be only at noon and not in the morning. Besides WSBK, the Supersport, Supersport 300, and Women’s (WorldWCR) World Championships will also be contested.
The concept was announced this Monday. According to a statement, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve is also preparing a special “Summer Festival” in addition to the races, with dining areas, musical concerts, autograph sessions, a parade lap, and even a new bus tour around the track. In this way, according to the note, emphasis is given to a festival atmosphere and the celebration of motorcycling.
