KTM has some updates on its bike for the 2024 MotoGP season and, two days before the end of pre-season, the work is not yet finished. After all, the development of a bike is an ongoing process, never static.
The team manager, Francesco Guidotti, mentioned that the frame of the new RC16 is the same one debuted by Dani Pedrosa at the San Marino GP last year: ‘I don’t like everything new. The frame will be the one we used in the last five races. It’s like a new frame because we were very brave to introduce it in the GPs after a short test with Dani and the wildcard in Misano. I would say it’s brave to introduce it because we didn’t truly know. But we needed to introduce it to gain experience. We know that the best test ever is during the GP, so the riders after the Misano test were really happy to use it in the GPs, also facing some risk‘.
There are still two days of testing left and the Italian leader spoke in general terms about what is planned: ‘For the next test we had to decide on the engine specification and, of course, some details of the aerodynamics. And in electronics we started with a new experience, so to speak, so we still have a lot of room for improvement. The next two days will be crucial for something, but at the same time we have to spend some time preparing for the race, because two weeks later there will be the first race and it will be important to gather some real information‘.
