Aprilia presented its MotoGP bike for the 2024 season on Sunday, and the RS-GP comes with several innovations. The Noale manufacturer wants to take new steps to get even closer to the fight for titles, and the work done is evident.
Romano Albesiano, technical director of Aprilia Racing, explained at the presentation ceremony what is different about the bike: ‘There are many differences. You immediately see the different concept of the front wing; the aerodynamic concept is the most evident part of the development – especially the rear. There was a lot of thought put into this rear and it’s a completely new concept. But also the frame is new, the swingarm is new, various components of the transmission and the engine, the electronics. So, there are many new components in this bike‘.
When asked to highlight a special feature of the new RS-GP, Albesiano replied: ‘The aerodynamic study is really advanced. We are all constantly looking for more aerodynamic load, but not only aerodynamic load in a straight line – also the very complex aerodynamic flow when the bike is cornering. So, it’s a very complicated aerodynamic concept and we are really proud of these new things that we are testing in these winter tests. And it’s something truly exciting that we bring every year‘.
