KTM currently has four riders under contract in MotoGP, but only one is tied beyond 2024 – Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM). Although the market may have some movements in the coming months, the manufacturer is not currently interested in making any moves in the rider market – especially if there is no possibility of adding a second satellite team.
The director of KTM Motorsport, Pit Beirer, told the press: ‘You always have to look at the list and see who is under contract and who will be free. But at the moment we are actually very happy with the four riders we have. And before there are discussions about the third team that really enter into serious conversations, I don’t really feel it’s time for us to move or talk to any other riders. We are really happy with the four riders we have, we fully believe in them. So, that’s the goal for the first quarter of the season – to give stability to this project and be strong with who we have‘.
However, the Austrian admitted that he will keep an eye on a market that he anticipates will start moving soon: ‘But I think the discussions will of course be quick, since contracts of some very famous riders are ending. But I saw that Ducati is talking to the world champion, they have already announced that they are very far apart. So I think some things that fit very well together will stay together. And the rest, we’ll see what’s happening‘.
