Pedro Acosta finished the first day of MotoGP testing at Losail with the 15th fastest time. The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider is adapting to the premier class and was the one who rode the most on Monday in Qatar, completing 73 laps.
The rookie considers that the start of these tests was positive: ‘It was quite good. After all, for me, one of the unknowns before starting the test was how fast we could adapt to this new track, also adapt my riding style to the MotoGP bike and these things. And it was very good because after six days in Malaysia, we finished 0.6s behind and now we are 0.8s behind. It’s not much. I found myself in 15th because everything is very close. But we have to be happy; after all, we are able to quickly manage all these new things for me in the MotoGP class. So, I think it was more than a good day’.
Regarding the tested components, Acosta highlighted his satisfaction with the work done alongside KTM: ‘We tried a fairing, something in the clutch, and something else that I don’t remember. Anyway, it was good. It’s always good to try things, the things we have already tested were good – the factory riders also say more or less the same as us. So, everything is becoming clearer for the start of the season – talking about the bike, the engine, the frame. I believe we have to be happy with how we are working with the factory team’.
