During preseason testing, it is natural for riders from the same manufacturer to try different solutions, and even in the Grand Prix races, the same bike does not have exactly the same settings for two riders – as each one has their own preferences and needs, even if the comments are very similar.
In Aprilia, Maverick Viñales was asked if he has the same impressions as his teammate Aleix Espargaró – who considers that the new RS-GP has a lot of aerodynamic load and poses some difficulties in riding, although it is good. Viñales replied:
– Yes, that’s clear. But I’m using a slightly different aerodynamic setup, so I probably have a different feeling than him. But in the end, we were both fast. […]When you go for the Sprint simulation like I did in Sepang, you see what you need to improve on the bike. I don’t know why, for example in Sepang it was completely the opposite – you start, go to the garage, the tire breaks. Every time you go out and come in, there was a rear tire breakage. In Losail it’s the opposite, it’s completely different. You can see that the tire is heating up. In a simulation, the pace is completely different from when you do two laps, stop, two laps, stop, two laps, stop. It’s completely different.
