Miguel Oliveira suffered a fracture in his right wrist during the first free practice of the MotoGP Indonesian GP this Friday, which leaves him out not only for the rest of the weekend but also for at least the Japan GP.
Trackhouse Racing will only have one Aprilia RS-GP until the end of the Mandalika round, but they intend to have two riders on track in Motegi next weekend. However, it is not yet certain that this will happen.
The obvious candidate for the spot is Lorenzo Savadori, the Aprilia test rider. Davide Brivio, the team manager of Trackhouse, confirmed during the official MotoGP broadcast that the possibility is being discussed:
– To be honest, we were talking about it. We’ve been checking with Aprilia. We would like to have the second bike running already in Japan, and if Savadori is available, we might have him there. But we are working on that and seeing if this is possible.
This year, Savadori has already competed in four Grands Prix as a wildcard for Aprilia, and the Noale manufacturer can enter him in two more rounds in that capacity if they wish. Last year, the Italian replaced the injured Oliveira in Aprilia’s satellite team in France and Valencia.
