Tony Arbolino approached the Moto2 lap record at Misano by leading Practice 1 for the Emilia-Romagna GP this Friday. The rider was consistently among the fastest throughout the 40-minute session.
Right after the first flying laps, Arbolino (Elf Marc VDS/Kalex) took the top spot, strengthening his position and holding it for almost 20 minutes.
He was later beaten by the championship leader, Ai Ogura (MT Helmets-MSi/Boscoscuro). The Japanese rider maintained the lead for over ten minutes before a series of fast laps put Arbolino back on top.
The Italian finished just 0.201s shy of breaking the Moto2 lap record at Misano, securing the fastest time of the session. Arón Canet (Fantic Racing/Kalex) was second, 0.391s behind, with Diogo Moreira (Italtrans Racing Team/Kalex) in third.
The top five was rounded out by Fermín Aldeguer (MB Conveyors SpeedUp/Boscoscuro) and Joe Roberts (OnlyFans American Racing Team/Kalex), while Ogura finished sixth, 0.439s off the fastest lap.
