It’s not a bike, nor is it exactly a car, and it barely resembles a UTV. The Can-Am Canyon is introduced as a three-wheeled motorcycle designed for off-road use, derived from the Spyder, which is more road-oriented.
This new vehicle will arrive next year, powered by a Rotax three-cylinder inline engine capable of producing 115 hp (at 7,250 rpm) and 130 Nm of torque (at 5,000 rpm). It has a 1,300 cc engine, paired with a six-speed semi-automatic transmission.
The engine and part of the chassis are derived from the Spyder but have been adapted for off-road use: the front suspension travel has been doubled to 260 mm, and the rear wheel has 235 mm of travel.
In the base model, the rear suspension consists of a SACHS shock absorber, while in the XT version it has a SACHS shock with self-leveling air preload adjustment, and in the RedRock version, a KYB Smart-Shox with self-leveling air preload adjustment.
As for the front suspension, it features SACHS Big-Bore shocks, except in the RedRock version, which comes equipped with KYB Piggyback Smart-Shox.
Each wheel is fitted with 270 mm brake discs, and the braking system includes ABS. At the front, there are Brembo fixed four-piston calipers, and at the rear, a floating one-piston caliper with an integrated parking brake.
Electronic assists include four driving modes, traction control, stability control, and hill-start assist. The wheels are aluminum, with 12-spoke Carbon Black rims at the front and six spokes at the rear.
The instrument panel features a 10.25-inch touchscreen with connectivity via BRP Connect and Apple CarPlay. The audio system includes USB and Bluetooth. The Can-Am Canyon accommodates one driver and one passenger and has a fuel tank capacity of up to 27 liters.
The price? The base model starts at $25,299, going up to $29,799 for the XT, and $32,299 for the RedRock, which also includes a rearview camera.
