Marc Márquez seemed well on his way to the podium in the Sprint race of the MotoGP Austrian Grand Prix. However, with five laps to go, he suffered a crash that would ultimately lead to his retirement.
The Spanish rider lost control of the Ducati Desmosedici GP23 on the way to turn three, uphill. It wasn’t a strong crash, but it was enough to ruin everything for Márquez.
The eight-time world champion managed to get up with a little help from the marshals… but when returning to the track, he was going the wrong way in the escape route, before crossing perpendicular to the trajectory.
