Álvaro Bautista joined Aruba.it Ducati for the second time in 2022, clinching the World Superbike Championship titles that year and the following one. Now, he is in the final season of his contract, which has proven to be the most challenging.
Currently, the Spaniard holds the third position in the championship with just two victories and is even trailing his teammate Nicolò Bulega. Despite the drop in competitiveness, Bautista’s intention is not to retire.
On the contrary, Bautista does not want to end his career in his current situation. In this regard, he stated to the official WSBK website that he intends to renew, although he admits it also depends on Ducati and that there are alternatives on the table:
– My main choice is to keep with the same team but it’s in Ducati’s hands as well, it not only depends 100% on me. It depends on Ducati. If Ducati wants to sign at World Ducati Week, they have to give me what I want. [Simone] Battistella [his manager] has other options, for sure, but I cannot tell you what they are. We have some plan B.
