Marc Márquez remains one of the reference riders in MotoGP, where he made his debut 11 years ago. Despite acknowledging that the younger generation brings something different, the rider continues to have the ability to fight for top positions when the equipment allows him to do so – something demonstrated by the third place he currently holds in the championship.
According to GPOne.com, the Gresini rider mentioned to the site SPEEDWEEK.com that he sees the younger rivals with a more natural riding style, without thinking too much about the bike:
– When you enter MotoGP in your 20s, you know everything, but you don’t really have an idea of how it works. You only rely on instinct, you fight with the big names in the sport, and you have nothing to lose. When I find myself behind [Pedro] Acosta, [Jorge] Martín or [Francesco] Bagnaia, who are five or ten years younger than me, I notice that they have a very natural riding style and don’t think too much about the bike. This can be positive.
An example of this spirit mentioned by Márquez is Acosta. The Red Bull GasGas Tech3 rider in MotoGP has shown fearlessness in facing big names like Márquez from an early stage. Even in a learning phase, he managed to engage in those duels and has already achieved two podiums. Another case is Márquez himself, who in 2013 reached the premier class, quickly won races, and became champion that same year against riders like Jorge Lorenzo or Valentino Rossi.
