Jordi Torres and Héctor Garzó were the fastest in the practice sessions of the Dutch MotoE Grand Prix. Yes, you read that right: both of them finished the second session with the same time, which is a new record for the category at the Assen circuit.
Chaz Davies (Aruba.it MotoE) was the first to complete a flying lap, before being overtaken by Mattia Casadei (LCR E-Team). The championship leader reinforced his first place in the session by improving right after.
Héctor Garzó (Dynavolt Intact GP) took the lead with his first flying lap, setting the new circuit record at 1m39.965s… which was then matched by Torres (Openbank Aspar), who also clocked in at 1m39.965s.
In third place was Alessandro Zaccone (Tech3 E-Racing) just 0.040s behind, followed by Nicholas Spinelli (Tech3 E-Racing) at 0.074s. The top five was completed by Miquel Pons (Axxis-MSi).
Eric Granado (LCR E-Team), who had led the first session, finished eighth, 0.381s behind Torres and Garzó. Thus, the Brazilian secured the last direct spot in the second phase of qualifying, leaving Oscar Gutiérrez (Axxis-MSi) out by just 0.002s.
